Bedtime

This is what my 'smaller than twin' size bed looks like
when I'm tired. In order for this to work, I would need to
have a 'smaller than a bunny rabbit' sized dog.

Max and Me

The Dotted Lines ...

This is just to prove to people that the dotted lines in
the middle of the highway are indeed longer than
6 or 7 inches ... and no, this isnt just a line
that dad repainted for me ...

Jessie, and tacos ..

This little guy was found in a bathroom stall in
Omaha when we went to the Secondhand Serenade concert.

Dixie Lullaby - Pat Green

My father had skin like leather
hands like steel
from a lifetime spent in the cottonfields
though hed come home tired and dirty
almost everynight
he found the strength to smile at me and hold my mama tight
while that old transister radio would play the opry out in the hall
id sit and watch their shadows glide across the wall

and theyd dance to a dixie lullaby
picture of love beneath the southern sky
oh my what a beautiful life
just like a dixie lullaby

i left home at 18
in a hand me down Chevrolet
packed my mamas goodness and my old mans stubborn ways
it was college, work, and love
then the babies came
the youngest ones got his grandaddy's name
and in the early morning hours when my children could not sleep.
i'd rock them in my arms to a gentle beat

and id sing them a dixie lullaby
hush baby dont you start to cry
oh my what a beautiful life
just like a dixie lullaby

my father was a mountain of a man
that was the description that i gave
the morning that we laid him in his grave
there with my mama by his side, we said our last goodbye
to a man we thought would never die
as i stood there in the fields of amazing grace
oh how the tears ran down my face.

and i sang him a dixie lullaby
well meet again, by and by
oh my what a beautiful life
just like a dixie lullaby

oh my what a beautiful life
just like a dixie lullaby

Dancin' with Dreams - Phil Vassar

We were eighteen and nineteen
And paired off on Saturday nights
Down in the basement, big killer stereo
Dimmer switch on the lights

Jane was a dancer, Paul was a drummer
Christine was a doctor to be
Life stretched out before us
like one endless summer
And that brings us to me
I was the gypsy

We sang as we stood at the gate
We were ready to take the world on
Four young soldiers of fate
Couldn't wait to go right every wrong
Wearing our passion, our hopes
Out t-shirts and jeans
Dancin with dreams

Ten years ago May we all drank to the future
And all went out separate ways
I packed up to go with my clothes and piano
And music and something to say

I hear Paul owns a drum shop
Jane teaches ballet
And Christine's an ob-gyn
I'm writing songs that I sing in a cafe
And sometimes I write about them
I miss my friends

We sang as we stood at the gate
We were ready to take the world on
Four young soldiers of fate
Couldn't wait to go right every wrong
Wearing our passion, our hopes
Out t-shirts and jeans
Dancin with dreams

Before reality threw up the roadblocks
And nothin was out of our reach
Time flowed smooth as a waltz, so it seemed
We were dancin with dreams

We sang as we stood at the gate
We were ready to take the world on
Four young soldiers of fate
Couldn't wait to go right every wrong
Wearing our passion, our hopes
Out t-shirts and jeans
Dancin with dreams
